Getting ready for the Pikey

With the Pikey meet coming up this weekend, I decided to do a few bit that have been bugging me for a while.
The indicators, although legal were cracked and the light fittings themselves were rusting away nicely. So a new set was in order.

Before -
After -
Not that the lights were expensive, I fitted security screws, about the same price as the standard screws (and there is no point in putting rusty screws back on now is there), it just hopefully stops the little thieving **** from giving me the headache of finding the old lights should mine be borrowed to go on eBay or wherever.
Also, these lights come with the sidelight in them (I retained the original side lights too), and kept the orange sidelight bulbs that came with the set, gives it more of a American look, also due to them being on the 'side' not pointing forward, they are legal (I double checked with my mate Johnny the MOT tester).

Next up is a through clean and load up for the weekend ahead :)

Sticker Design

After my rough sketch earlier, people are asking me to look into the possibility of getting them made up, so had a play with a few designs....

The standard VW version

Stickers

I decided that I want some stickers on my front doors that were quite common in the 80's but I couldnt remember exactly how they looked.
Thankfully, the guys on 80-90 assisted.

I did a quick sketch in GIMP to show what I remembered, and they pointed me in the right direction.  Cheers guys.

My sketch

Shopping.

After a lot of deliberation and the thought of going to another Pikey meet with the toilets being miles away, I purchased a bike rack. Ideally I wanted a Famma rack but budget really doesnt permit, so I bought one to attach on the tow bar...

Now just to get a bike lol

Next week, Bobby will get a wash, a full interior empty, clean and re-fil for the camping season ahead (starting with the Pikey meet).

There are a few other things that I have in mind, but they will have to wait till a little later in the year.

A couple of questions from the forum..

when did last hate your t25! grrr!

It has never brought me to tears, tho yesterday it really annoyed me, I almost contemplated a straight swap for a Mazda RX8 (and I hate jap cars)....

Not in any order....

  • Replacing the lower water pipe on a WBX (a ten min job.....), bolt snapped in the water pump......three hours later!!!!
  • Faulty electrics (but only intermittent so unable to source the problem and fix it).
  • Handbrake adjuster seized onto back plate (dont know how, but it was a total b*****d to sort).
  • Flat battery syndrome (ok so this one was my fault, I could have charged it but hey), twice!!!!!!!!
  • Sump plug - after a discussion in tech, we have decided that my sump plug is a aftermarket/retrofit 19mm......taking a grinder to a snap-on socket takes balls of steel and a very good friend not to kill you!!

are t25s human?

I thank Dan Simpson and quote him here -
Mine's a definite female.
Stop giving it frequent attention and you suffer!! Financially!!

MOT Day....

And it passed.

Required a new handbrake cable (something I already knew)......day started out bad, battery was flat, jumped started it, but again after 15 mins of driving I had to put fuel in...again no start and unable to jump it. AA came and diagnosed a f**ked battery. He got me going.
Once I got to test station, I checked the battery with my mates tester and it agreed it was 'brown bread', so a replacement Bosch one ordered.
Fitted the water pipe I got from Brickwerks in November and decided a full service was in order.

£200 total, happy man :)
